The efficient if gray-sounding
Organ Concerto — sort of serialized Hindemith — won the prize for
a new work at the St Albans Festival of 1996; which saw its first
(and no doubt last) performance — a bit of an ordeal for all concerned,
including its brilliant soloist Gillian
Weir, and the composer
himself. |
