Melodrama, op. 9
Melodrama sets for female speaker with ensemble and a small male chorus (distant model: Brahms' Alto Rhapsody) three famous poems by Sylvia Plath: Lady Lazarus; Cut; Elm.  This rapidly written, concentrated spin-off inhabits the same disturbed world as the long-held-back First Concerto finale, which it interrupted.  It has never been performed.
